You've all seen the cars and trucks driving around with advertisements plastered all over the vehicle. Some of them are quite creative. Now homeowners can offer up their house as a giant billboard, thanks to an intriguing new program from startup advertising firm Adzookie. Adzookie will make the mortgage payments for the homeowner for as long as they keep the advertisement on their house.
The ad company launched the innovative idea in April, 2011, and quickly received over 1,000 applications from homeowners willing to offer up their home for ad space.
The rush to participate in the ad program is probably a reflection of the weak economy. An Adzookie spokesman said, "It really blew my mind. I knew the economy was tough, but it's sad to see how many homeowners are really struggling."
Adzookie will paint its logo and social media logos onto selected houses. Participating homeowners must agree to keep the home painted for at least three months. They may extend the deal for as long as a year.
The Anaheim, CA-based ad agency was launched just 16 months ago. The company is mobile advertising network that accepts free local business ads, in exchange for ads on their advertisers' mobile sites. Adzookie also sells ads for $1 a day. Adzookie estimates it will pay about $8,000 per house that is accepted into the program.
When the contract ends, Adzookie agrees to repaint the home back to its original colors. To qualify, the house must be owned by the participant, and the ads will not be painted on homes in communities with bylaws restricting such painting on the homes.
